10 tips for creating a successful web design

What makes a website successful? What does a successful website look like? As often, these are simple tactics that will allow you to make the most of your site, regardless of your field. Here are 10 concrete and important points to guarantee the success of your site!

1. Define the purpose of your site.

Be clear and precise about what you hope to achieve with your site before you start. What are your visitors supposed to do on your site? This can be for example buy on your e-shop, subscribe to your newsletter, find your address/contact, etc ... Thus, if you are for example trainer or teacher of yoga, the main objective will be making contact via a form or number.

2. Determine your target.

(And do not cheat by saying it's "everyone";). If you know exactly who you are trying to reach, you can create a site that targets the needs of your visitors. Defining who your site is for will make it easier for you to create an effective and successful site.
Good to know: you have the right to be inspired by other websites! :) Do not hesitate to take a look at the examples of sites and note what you like.

3. Keep your navigation on one line.

Beyond seven elements in your navigation, you risk losing the attention of your visitors. The most important thing is to keep your navigation on a line.
Reduced navigation makes the look of the site much clearer and more organized, and your visitors will find the information they are looking for faster.
Try to remove some elements from your navigation so that it fits on a single line.

4. Fill in your SEO settings.

Many people ignore this step thinking that SEO is far too complicated for them. But you do not have to be an SEO expert to fill the SEO parameters of your site - and that will really make the difference. If you have completed your website title, page title and description of pages for each of your pages, then you can congratulate yourself! If it is not yet the case, here's where you should start.

5. Invest in a domain name.

By choosing to upgrade to a paid version, you will get a personalised domain name and you will not have any weird ads on your site. It is a guarantee of seriousness and professionalism.
Good to know: Choose a domain that is easy to spell - the best is to use the name of your project, association or company. If you think that it may be confusing or too common, you can combine it with the name or acronym of your location.

6. Check the display of your mobile site.

On Kenesis, all designs are responsive. So your website will automatically adjust to the size of your visitor's screen. But it's always good to check using preview mode - and make sure your font is big enough and therefore readable.

7. Use quality photos.

To make a good impression, nothing is more effective than well-designed, high-resolution images. If you have just made a beautiful jewel for example, then really put it on the scene - thanks to photo quality and a suitable background. A tip: make a lightbox just to make beautiful pictures of your products!
Good to know: Create a plan for your site before starting to build your site. Think about the sub-pages you will need, and where you want to put what content. This can help just take paper and pencil to make this plan. Not very modern but very effective!

8. Think about investing in a high def custom logo.

The benefits of a custom logo are often underestimated. Yet it is an essential element of branding, which you can use especially for your social networks. So it’s worth it to invest a little in a logo for your project. A word of advice: The logos on a transparent background will be particularly useful in the Header section of your site.

9. Do not forget the icons.

Did you know that there are loads or quality icons available for free online? This sounds too good to be true, but many sites offer icons to download. Then you simply insert them on your site thanks to the Image manager.

10. Do not hide your contact information.

Your website can be the easiest way to start a relationship with your new customers. Put your contact page as the last slot of the Nav Bar, so that your details can be found from each of your pages - your visitors will be able to contact you without having to look long on your site.
